About

About Resilience Lab

Resilience Lab is an independent research initiative exploring what helps households withstand disruption and continue functioning through periods of financial, health, housing, caregiving, and life uncertainty.

We believe resilience is not the same as wealth.

A wealthy household can be fragile. A middle-income household can be highly resilient.

Our goal is to better understand the factors that contribute to resilient households and continuously improve the framework through participant feedback.

The current Household Resilience Check is a short screening assessment designed to provide directional insight. It is not financial, legal, medical, insurance, or professional advice.

What we are studying

  • Financial Stability

Income consistency, savings, and ability to absorb cost shocks.

  • Risk Protection

Insurance coverage and protection against major losses.

  • Household Continuity

Whether the household can keep functioning during disruption.

  • Legal & Legacy Readiness

Estate documents, beneficiaries, and access in emergencies.

  • Family Support Systems

Caregiving capacity, networks, and shared planning.

  • Future Readiness

Adaptability to long-term changes in work, health, and life.

Why this matters

Most households face disruptions at some point.

Traditional financial tools often focus on income, net worth, or assets. Resilience Lab explores whether a household can absorb shocks, adapt, and continue functioning.

How feedback is used

Participant feedback helps improve:

  • Questions
  • Scoring models
  • Recommendations
  • Future versions of the framework

Take part in the research

The Household Resilience Check takes about 5 minutes. Your responses and feedback help improve the framework for future participants.
